Last Night's Action: A Tale Of Two Sweeps

  • 2006_04_smetslogo.jpgMets 6 Marlins 4: It is the best of times for the Mets. 32-17, best record in the National League and fresh off a sweep of the Marlins. Sunday’s win was a balanced effort with Jorge Sosa giving a solid start, the bullpen doing its job and the offense taking advantage of seven walks. Damion Easley showed his versatility, starting in left field and contributing 2 hits. Five different Mets had a RBI and the club will enjoy their day off tomorrow before Barry Bonds comes to town.
  • Angels 4 Yankees 3: It is the worst of times in the Bronx. Not only have the Yankees just been swept at home, but also they are now an almost insurmountable 12-½ games behind Boston. Sunday’s loss was particularly painful because they wasted a very good start by Mike Mussina when Scott Proctor couldn’t find the plate and walked in two runs. New York will keep searching for answers tomorrow night in Toronto.

all eyes were on detroit where the two best teams in baseball battled and the tribe swept the tiggers.
