Sex and the City in the City, Again

2007_05_arts_carrie.jpgJust when we finally washed the show right out of our hair, it's being reported that the "long-awaited" Sex and the City movie is getting closer to hitting the big screen. Mario Cantone, who played wedding planner and fag-for-Charlotte-to-hag Anthony Marantino, is the only one talking details so far:

"Hopefully the Sex and the City movie is going to happen this fall," he said. "If it does, I'm in it which would be nice so it better get done. They've called me about my availability, yeah, but nothing's negotiated with myself. I don't know if any of the girls are negotiated. All I know is it better get done because I want to do it."
There were hopes for a film earlier, but rumor had it Kim Cattrall didn't want any part of it. Despite nothing being nailed down, the film is tentatively scheduled to start filming this fall, so clear the sidewalks for some Manolos (or, whatever the shoe du jour is). The questions stands, however, is a movie necessary?

Sex and the City filming may have to compete with Lipstick Jungle and Cashmere Mafia, which are essentially SATC variations by SATC author Candace Bushnell (creator of Lipstick Jungle) and SATC producer Darren Starr (Cashmere Mafia) - on networks' fall TV schedules. And here are our three year old thoughts on the small screen series finale.

oh god please, no.

I love how everyone loved the show then and now its uncool to like the show. It was a fun show, it would be a fun movie. Its not rocket science.

Who gives a fuck? I'd rather watch paint dry.

Way to strike while the iron is hot...

Why would I want to see a movie about a foursome of old fartknockers trying to get laid? The cast must all be over 40, wrinkled, and depleted (Not to mention loose).

I am sure by now all those Mid-western chicks who moved to the city to emulate the show's lifestyle have moved their broke-asses back home. Do we need more of the show's bullshit to lure another bunch of clueless out of towners?

No, no, no, no, NO.

(never liked the show, no revisionist history here.)

Just call it _The Golden Girls: The Early Years_.

Kim Cattrall peaked in Star Trek 6.

I don't think the movie would be about them trying to get laid, since the characters were all married or in serious relationships when the show ended. That being said, what would the movie be about? There are really no loose ends we fans are wondering about.
