Well there are just no rules on the bus. At several times the bus driver was on the phone while the bus was moving. The the hell is wrong with that!!! Another time the bath room was out of sevice for 2 weeks........(New century Bus).I think that the chinatown buses needs to be more enforced!!!!

I took the greyhound cross country from port authority NYC to Las vegas, nv. Not something I'd do again but it sure was interesting and I got a lot of stories. At almost every stop, you would have convicts who were just released. they would get on board and meet other convicts who were just released and it's like a reunion. then they meet a loose female and they get it on in the back. granted they were polite and discrete but still not something I want to hear going on in a long distance bus ride. Coming back, just outside Las Vegas, some state troopers stops the bus. yep, they were looking for a convict. they questioned everyone on board including me. Asked where I was coming from, when I got into town, when I left town and where I'm going. Took a mid distance trip to South Carolina. That bus must of stopped at every sketchy bus terminal from NJ to SC. Makes me wonder if people actually lived in the bus stations, they all had luggage but going no where. Some looked like they were doing homework, college level.

Does anyone have safety statistics on Greyhound? Or are they immune from crashes? Frankly, my scariest Greyhound rides have been far scarier than any of the chinatown rides I've taken. Also, the scariest passengers on Greyhound have been far scarier than any other buses I've taken. Also, the scariest Greyhound terminals full of hustlers playing 3 card monty have been far seedier than any of the random corners I've caught chinatown buses on. That's all.

Like their manufacturing strategy, the Chinese are simply taking advantage of our willingness to make large sacrifices in quality for a nominally lower price. You get what you pay for.

Can't say I'm surprised. On my last Chinatown bus trip to Boston, the Driver was so inept, one of the passengers had to come out and show him how to properly pump the gas. Plus after he left the station, he got lost looking for the on ramp. And this was on the Fung Wah buses. Now is it really that difficult to pay the extra $10 bucks and take Peter Pan??

We should also investigate that bus crash where it flew off the exit ramp while we are at it. that bus was also dangerous. why was it on the road? Maybe the driver couldn't read the Exit sign in English?

wow, a chinatown bus company crash. I need more than two hands to count the number of times I've seen a broken-down Fung Wah pulled over on the Mass Pike with the passengers standing around the bus cursing at the fact they didn't shell out the extra $10 to take a Peter Pan.

here's the deal. we all know bus travel is dangerous for various reasons, but the Chinatown bussing system is especially dangerous because the drivers do not obey the laws of the road, they typically do not speak english (which also leads me to believe they cannot read english). i think state and federal fines need to be handed down to these bus companies (which i also believe are a front for something else).
