And further, we're not in the business of hyping bands. My job in this column is to report on the big music stories in New York of the past week as I see them. If you have a problem with what I choose, or disagree with what I have to say, that's fine and I'd love to hear why you disagree. Blanket statements like "everything you hype is shit" and "SoS is great and you're an idiot for thinking otherwise" don't really get to the matter at hand. WHAT would you rather have read about? WHY is this LCD album so good? Gimme something to work with here.

Such as? In this column for the last two weeks we've talked about LCD Soundsystem, Spank Rock, Ghostface, Wilco, The Arcade Fire and Blonde Redhead. And had nice things to say about all of them. I don't think any of those guys are shit, and suspect there are a lot of people who would agree with me. So who would Paul like to hear about? Also, I think the pool parties start much earlier than 5. Closer to 2:00 maybe? I remember them being over around 8.

Along with their ridiculous take on Sound of Silver, Gothamist has to admit that they usually hype some pretty shit bands, regardless of whether they're local or not.

I love dance music! The Digitalism record I'm listening to at the moment is in my top 10 of the year so far, some of the new Justice tracks are mindblowing, MSTRKRFT and the Rapture have been two of my favorite "live" shows this year. I could go on. I just don't respond to this LCD album. And I'm well aware that I'm in the vast minority with this. Regardless, I can't deny that they brought it live last weekend.

You are Crazy. Sounds of Silver is one of the best albums of the year, and I've never seen a bad LCD performance. And this is coming from a person with no soul that hates pretty much everything and everyone. So you know you can trust me. Right? Right? But anyhow, yeah, get with the program.

We've been hard on LCD Soundsystem lately. Despite it's massive popularity and critical acclaim, their latest album, Sound of Silver, has yet to click with our delicate tastes. you mean they don't sound enough like the Arcade Fire, right?
