Last Night's Action: The Cubs Bounce Back

2006_04_smetslogo.jpg

  • Cubs 10 Mets 1: For the first time this year, John Maine started, but the Mets didn’t win. Maine was shaky in the first two innings, giving up three runs, but settled down after that. The problem was, Carlos “don’t call me Victor” Zambrano showed the form that has made him one of the best pitchers in the league.

Coming into the game, Zambrano had been a mess, but Tuesday he was back in form, striking out three while allowing six hits over eight innings. The Cubs backed that up with 15 hits, including three by Cliff Floyd and a monster home run by Aramis Ramirez. Shawn Green homered to give the Mets their only run and Carlos Delgado left the game after being hit in the finger, he is day-to-day. Jorge Sosa faces Rich Hill tomorrow night (weather permitting).

  • Yankees-White Sox Rained Out: The Yankees got another day off when their game was rained out tonight. They will play two tomorrow and decided to bring back Ron Villone.

It's like we're playing host to NYC here in Chicago.

How it was rained out on the southside but not the northside is anyone's guess.

Go WSox! Go Mets!
