I follow the blog of my favorite subway musician, the 'Saw Lady' (I usually see her play at Times Square). She talks about what happens in the subway while she plays there. She bloged about the Music Under NY audition from her unique point of view (she has been working at the audition for many years): www.SawLady.com/blog

I watched a documentary about busking and the MUNY auditions were a huge part of it - a lot of people's stories are so heartbreaking, especially the "original doll dancer" who is usually in Penn Station. He hasn't ever seen his son, but tries to make enough money to eventually bring his wife and kid to New York from Colombia.
