Awali Khouroupra tried to stop a group of shoplifters at a store in Queens, but he is now in the hospital. A cashier saw a man and woman taking "armloads of clothing" from the racks of Pretty Girl and Khouroupra, a 52-year-old immigrant from Togo, ran after them.
The thieves got into a waiting van, but Khouroupra grabbed the van's door and held on. The Daily News says that the shoplifters "kicked at the African immigrant until he tumbled to the pavement less than a block away."
Khouroupra is in critical condition at Mary Immaculate Hospital. He has two children under 4 living in Togo. The police are looking for the suspects and their burgundy minivan. The store manager told the Post, "I'm feeling bad about Awali. I hope he makes it."

listen to the coup song "I Love Boosters!"
you know, for a job that probably paid about minimum wage, this guy is one brave dumbass.
I hope Mr. Khouroupra recovers. All the best to him.
Dumb fuck ! They pay you to "Watch out" for criminal activity . They pay you to "Try" to thwart shoplifters . They don't pay you to put Ur life on the line for something that probably cost a third of Ur salary ! See the problem with this story is, The common-sense fact wasn't applied to the situation . Security guards are used to protect Life, & Property . The definition of the following goes as followed->>>>>>>>>> " You are responsible as a security officer for the well being of those for whom come in direct contact with property you are securing . As Security for that property it is Ur job to secure it to the best of Ur ability without incurring harm to yourself . It is the job of the security officer to secure the premises of which needs protection from an and all intruders . If a situation arises where as the security of stated property has been breached . The security officer in charge should immediately notify the proper authorities fill out an incident report in full detail and await the arrival of emergency responders . A security guard may not forcibly Hinder, Quarantine, Capture, Willingly assault, OR cause any bodily harm to any citizen unless provoked into confrontation". I know it sound like shit and it is, but that's the law . What this guy did was wrong and if he works for a security firm and not the store and someone got hurt in that chase then the injured party could sue both the store and the firm for damages . I know all of this because after I graduated from college I worked security as a second job for a few months and that's what they teach you in the [8] hour, & [16] hour classes . I hope this guy was licensed to work security because that just opens up another can of potential issues .
