Noteworthy Television This Week: Come On Down!
A look at some noteworthy television this week:
7th Heaven (Sunday, 9:00 p.m., WPIX 11) Last year when the show was on the WB it had a series finale, but was brought back by the new CW. This time the show is over, finally.
Funniest Mom in America 3 (Sunday, 9:00 p.m., Nickelodeon) Despite sounding like a sequel to a bad summer comedy, this is actually a Mother's Day special of a search for a comedic mother hosted by Rosanne. The prize is $50,000 and hosting a night of Nick at Nite's speeded up lineup of old TV shows.
NewsChannel 4 (Monday-Friday, 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. WNBC 4) WNBC has been taking the high road with its sweeps stories, last week reporting on identity theft. This week they are doing it again. Michael Gargiulo and Lynda Baquero are doing a five part series called "Women in Combat". Gargiulo looks at what women are doing on the ground in Iraq and Baquero provides a stateside perspective from Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
The King of Queens (Monday, 9:00 p.m., WCBS 2) This show filmed in LA and set in Queens finally ends its run several seasons too late. Now for some reason, the show's web site claims the show is set in the "working-class suburb of Queens, New York". We guess they really don't know much about the geography of The Greater New York in California.
Heroes (Monday, 9:00 p.m., WNBC 4) If you watch the show then you are most likely hooked and don't need a reminder. If you aren't Mr. Sulu George Takei guest stars again as Hiro's father.
The American Experience: Alexander Hamilton (Monday, 9:00 p.m., WNET 13) A look at Alexander Hamilton, founding father, creator of The New York Post, and was the first person shot and killed by a sitting vice president as a result of a duel in Weehawken.
Gilmore Girls (Tuesday, 8:00 p.m., WPIX 11) Say goodbye to Loreli and Rory as the series ends. We guess the departure after the end of last season of the series creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino wound up as the death knell for the show.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent (Tuesday, 9:00 p.m., WNBC 4) We finally meet Goren's mother and it turns out she is Rita Moreno. Roy Scheider also guest stars as a condemned killer who hopes to trade information on unsolved murders for some more time alive.
Frontline: Spying on the Home Front (Tuesday, 9:00 p.m., WNET 13) The PBS news documentary series takes a look at the National Security Administration, civil liberties, and possible violations of the Constitution.
The Price Is Right Million Dollar Spectacular (Wednesday, 8:00 p.m., WCBS 2) With Bob Barker stepping down from TPIR next month this makes this special more special. As with previous prime time outings, expect some extra spectacular prizes.
Bob Barker: A Celebration of 50 Years on Television (Thursday, 8:00 p.m., WCBS 2) Come on down memory lane and take a look at the aforementioned Bob Barker's long television career as his retirement looms.
That's the Way It Is: Celebrating Cronkite at 90 (Friday, 8:00 p.m., WCBS 2) The veteran newsman Walter Cronkite's iconic career is looked back on.
National Bingo Night (Friday, 9:00 p.m., WABC 7) The debut of what has to be the most absurd idea for a game show ever. We wonder how it can even really be bingo if it isn't in some slightly dingy parish hall with a priest calling the numbers and nuns selling refreshments.
Law & Order (Friday, 10:00 p.m., WNBC 4) It what may wind up being the swan song for the series if NBC makes yet another idiotic programming decision, Harry Hamlin guests as a senator accused of a double murders and Jeffery Tambor guests as a judge who loves the media spotlight too much. We loathe to think what fakeality nonsense they would replace it with.

we already met goren's mother last year. dude, keep up on your law & order episodes (especially since you're supposed to be the resident tv expert).
National bingo night - I hate TV programming executives!
I think for non-New Yorkers and people who've never been here, the description of the setting of "King of Queens" is accurate. While not technically a suburb, it used to be and certainly many parts of it would be were Queens not one of the five boroughs.
Also, how could you have left off the season finale of "The Office"? It's going to be a huge episode!
yeah we meet Goren's mom in the episode where he sees his homeless brother. Poor Bobby.
