JV & Elvis Out of the Doghouse, Now Strays

jvelvis.jpgJV and Elvis, the on-air duo who inhabit "The Doghouse" on 92.3 Free FM, had their suspension from CBS Radio upgraded to a firing. The morning show pair were suspended late last month after CBS received complaints about a show in which a prank call is placed to a Chinese restaurant, and lewd language and racial slurs were employed in an attempt at humor. It was the second time in a month JV and Elvis found themselves in hot water. Earlier in April, the two were criticized for using a number of anti-gay slurs against a musician guest on their show after he admitted that he didn't listen to commercial radio and had never heard of them. Their site appears to be dormant at this time.

Back in 2005, Miss Jones of Hot97 FM was suspended indefinitely after airing a song parody making fun of Asian tsunami victims that makes Don Imus sound like Martin Luther King, Jr. by comparison, but she eventually returned to the air. Later that year, J Smooth at hiphopmusic.com noted her rant against transit workers, who she characterized as uneducated and overpaid losers, before employing a few slurs against TWU head Roger Toussaint, wishing he'd be forcibly placed on a boat back to Trinidad.

Opie and Anthony, who broadcast a daily show on XM Satellite Radio, were criticized last week for airing a portion of a show in which they laughed at the prospect of Condoleeza Rice being held down and raped by a homeless man.

No Frank, you're totally right. We're not giving you any reason. We asians don't like to be made fun of, and we don't have a keen sense of humor. The problem for you is - SO WHAT?! We have the buying power, and we could arm-twist corporate executives to override YOUR RACIST PREFERENCES. The same way the Jews and African Americans did before us. LMAO!

And no, Andy, they ain't no funny as fuck, you fucktard. They're racist as fuck. Says who? Says I. And the corporate executives of CBS who agreed with me. Too bad so sad. Go fuck yourself, with your tiny weiner.

  • andy

jv and elvis rock, yea the bit they did was stupid, i listen to they everyday, and there funny as fuck, just cause you fags don't like it, all you have to do is turn the channel,

  • ok

If you check this duo's track of records, it is not their first time to get fired. Two years ago they were fired for making sexually offensive comment on a woman working for charity. I don't see any good shit in these two guys' brains. Hell they go !

  • otomboy

I'm just glad they're off the air, what a waste of radio time. I'd would rather that the station play music then hear anything that comes from their mouths racist or not. Loud, obnoxious, annoying and just not funny... doghouse, what?

I'm Chinese and if they did a heavy chinese accent to my face, I would first be confused why a white guy is speaking in a chinese accent, then amused at the blatant racism, then beat the shit out of him for insulting my race. If you can not see why their bit was racist, then you have no empathy for what most minorities have to put up with in their lives.

If your Asian child was harassed by a white child mimicking this bit (because of media perpetuating these 'jokes') it becomes clear why this kind of action is necessary to stop the blatant public racism.

  • Trash out JV

These two idiots should have been fired a long time ago. If you are a well educated civilian, you don't have to suck fun from nasty and profane jokes, that's a shame. If you enjoy such jokes, you must be a pathetic loser or idiot.

Get out of here, JV and Elvis. You should be shamed of yourselves.

  • Fire The Rogues

JV and Elvis, now you can enjoy staying home and playing with your egg rolls in your pants.. Why don't you dip it with some soy sauce and tell us how that feels, OK ?

  • O&A Fan

IF YOU MOTHER F*CKING B*TCHES DONT LIKE IT DONT F*CKING LISTEN. WHAT IS THERE TO LEARN FROM FIRING ANY OF THESE PEOPLE YOU SELF-PROMOTING DOUCHEBAGS?! NOTHING, AT THIS RATE OUR COUNTRY IS REALLY GOING DOWN HILL, NEXT THING YOU KNOW WE'LL BE AFRAID TO SAY ANYTHING AGAINST OUR GOVERNMENT AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH WILL BE COMPLETELY GONE AND WE WILL FALL BECAUSE OF YOU SELF PROMOTER F*CKS LETTING THIS HAPPEN.

  • that's amazing.

"guess what LIFE SUCKS no matter what color you are stop pointing fingers and looking for excuses and live your damned life."

wow you are so right! FRANK HAS SINGLE-HANDEDLY SOLVED ALL ISSUES OF RACISM IN THE U.S.

    EVERYONE CHEER FOR FRANK

  • frank

i think people have lost all concept of what racism is.

if they called a white french man and made fun of his accent and used french food like croissants as analogies for body parts would that be racist????

before saying that JV & Elvis are racist answer the above question. because that is all that was done in the prank call. They toyed with a language barrier!

so i ask is it racist if they did this to a french resturaunt with a heavily accented frenchman who did not have a good grasp of the english language? if the answer is no then HOW THE F*#@ IS THIS RACISM!!!! why cause he was asian? seems a bit odd and most importantly UNFAIR which is one of the principles of racism NOT TREATING PEOPLE FAIRLY. realize a joke from hate speach you egg shell sensitive morons with no lives. here is a hint for everyone black, white, asian whatever. guess what LIFE SUCKS no matter what color you are stop pointing fingers and looking for excuses and live your damned life.

  • Jun Zuniga

About time people are held accountable for their racist actions.

  • London

Isn't this a freedom of speech issue more than a issue of racism?

Granted, I've never listened to JV and Elvis so I can't say if they are funny or not.

I'm forced to listen to Wendy Williams/Miss Jones (Sorry they all sound the same to me...GHETTO!) at my office because our top (black) female executives loves to listen. I find the show as informative and entertaining as the Window's Vista operating manuals. They've done more to set back the cause than MC Hammer doing Popeye's chicken commericals or D. L. Hugley staring in Soul Plane.

I've heard brief ramblings from Imus in my 38 years as a New Yorker but I don't think he should have been fired for using the term 'Nappy Headed Ho's'...Black women get called much worst in rap/hip-hop albums and that stuff in is heavy rotation on all the stations. Plus, I think Imus may have lost a betting bracket and that may have fueled his comments. Also, Imus has said a lot worst before 'Ho'gate started.

When it comes to O & A I have to be honest...I'm a fan. I love the show. I love how funny (& cruel) they can be towards EVERYBODY. They hate everybody and even themselves.

None of these 'Shock jock' (An lame term created by soft minded, ultra sensitive, uncreative news people.) stop Blacks or Asians or Gays from getting jobs, education or affordable housing. They entertain a small segment of the population. The people who do get upset are the ones carrying around 'white guilt' and let 'Terror Teases' guide their judgment.

If the news had never reported Imus saying 'Nappy headed ho's' how many people would have actually heard it? 100 maybe 300 hundred listeners?

Besides being a free speech issue this is a matter or choice. If you don't like what you hear just turn off the station and move on.

That's just the opinion of one Black New Yorker.

P.S. I used to listen to Howard until he stopped being funny.

  • frank

    a couple of things here,

    1. for those that are chimming in here saying "i dont listen, these guys deserved it" be quiet. that is whats wrong with this country we have so many people willing to chime in on issues they know nothing about. i dont know squat about rocket propullsion so guess what i dont chim in on the subject.

    2. who here actualy has listened to the show as well as heard this clip? for one you will realize that they arent shock jocks least not in the howard stern opie & anthony vein. its a comedy show.

    3. if you think this was racist than holy crap are you uber sensitive! there is nothing wrong with poking fun with a person. so they made fun of the accent so thats racist? what is it then if it were a white person who stuttered that they mocked the speach of???? mean? yes racist? hardly. i think it rediculous that everything is automaticly racist if one race make fun of someone from another race even if the intent was the furthest thing from racism

    4. is anyone here aware of the fact that JV (the bald one) is married to an asian model? yep, he must really hate asians

5 this show was rated number one in the san francisco bay area for 10 years!! the bay area is 33.9% asian in comparison to 9.8% in NYC (check the US census bureau if u dont believe me) if they are so racist then why in a much more asian populated area did they never once have a problem?!?!?!?

  • Vinny

My point, oh brilliant pidgeonholers is that while JV and Elvis and Don Imus got fired, Miss Jones gets more and more promotion.

If you think calling that a double standard makes me a racist, go f yourself.

I for one hate JV and Elvis, and never listened to Don Imus, but I can tell right from wrong.

Apparently some of you more "sophisticated" folks can't.

  • Anon.

F* these chinky bastards - words don't hurt bullets do.

Anon. an unwilling citizen of the "thin skinned nation"

  • nick

why'd you have to drag budweiser into this? you had me on your side until you decide to drop some "typical american idiots" bullshit.

  • Charshiu

How can Asians who represent less than 10% of the US population have or even exert powers of censorship? CBS is in the business of making money for its shareholders, who are predominantly white if you assume shares are normally distributed across the population (I.e., there is no Asian/Black/Latino mega mutual fund controlling CBS shares).

Hence, it's the predominantly white management team hired by predominantly white shareholders who fired the DJs. Why did they do that? Maybe it was because they thought that the DJs were a bunch of racist fools. Or more likely they didn't want to lose advertising revenues. So don't go blaming the minorities for censorship. If you think firing the DJs was wrong, go protest CBS and go and buy more Budweiser. but don't go blaming minorities for expressing their views. THAT is censorship!

  • Murray Hillster

It's amazing how none of the supporters of these two DJs realize how they are undermining their own cause.

Every time they spout off, they reinforce the notion that the only people that listen to these DJs are mouthbreathing, racist, idiots.

If there were even a handful of well-spoken fans (let's assume they exist), there'd be a much greater chance that the two would still be on the radio.

When the "whatevers" and "Vinnys" of the world open their mouths, people who had never heard of the DJs and really couldn't care less, think, "it was probably the right decision to remove the DJs from the air if these are the types of people they attract."

  • jonathan

    sad:

There are other ways of dealing with and venting people's racist tendencies other than practicing it.

  • sad

The sad thing about all this is nothing will be learned. People will go back to hiding their racial bones in their tiny closets. Hiding their dirty little secrets about what they actually think, as they milk money from various communities, because really do most people care where their money is coming from as long as they get paid? As bad as IMUS and the Doghouse and the rest of these shock jocks look, they actually got things out and are honest in a reflection of how far we have not come. When a large portion of different communities are so concerned about how they are treated, yet they can't treat others they want to be treated is alot of bull. We as human beings have failed time and time again. Some individuals are big enough to change, but those individuals are a minority. The majority of people will have their racism hidden and blow a gasket when they are poked at. Sad that we as a society have really come up short time and time again. I check myself everyday, its work, but I want to try and live in a better place and be around other cultures to learn about this one life I have. Maybe we are best off just killing each other until there is no one standing, because we are have evolved to nothing and are not above being animals. Read a paper and see how we kill each other here and around the world, because really most people just don't care about their fellow man.

  • matty

that bald guy with the make-up and sculpted eyebrows looks like the biggest asshole idiot ever. how he thinks he can make fun of anyone is a mystery.

  • squidfly

Actually Vinnie, I feel sorry for you, you are so full of hate for Black people, Asians and Latino's, you need help, it must be really painful being you. I wish you well and I'm going to pray for you, cause that's some sickness you've got.

  • squidfly

Vinny your a tiresome boar, bore, boor!!! Get over it, being white has made you infantile.

  • dude

I've never even heard of these guys, but they must be hilarious! Look at their facial expressions! They look crazee and shocking!

Oh wait, sorry - they actually look like grade-A douchebags.

  • Vinny

Meanwhile, Miss Jones is getting heavy promotion in subway stations around the city.

Guess if you're black you can't be a racist.

  • doug

    AWESOME.

Very happy that these turds got fired.

  • robin.g

Good. When will these morning Drive Time DJ Zoo douches learn that they are NOT funny? It takes time and skill to craft a truly humorous show, and these jackoffs just go for the easy "Oh me so solly!" route. Not funny. Go away. You suck.

  • whatever

"attempt at humor"? who the fuck are you to judge? Why is it suddenly not OK to make fun of people? This is all effectively censorship by a minority of people. The words that were said by JV & Elvis, O&A, Imus, and Miss Jones were ALL within the FCC guidelines. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T LISTEN!

hey, did you guys know asians are good at math?
