READINGS: Papermag points out an interesting reading tonight for "Queens of the Kingdom: The Ultimate Gay and Lesbian Guide to the Disney Theme Parks."
Authors Jeffrey Epstein and Eddie Shapiro explain how to have a gay ol’ time in Disney World. Their guide (now in its second edition) features “fairy facts,” culinary suggestions and where to find the “gay goodies” like Ellen Degeneres’s Ellen's Energy Adventure ride. Tonight’s reading is hosted by Michael Musto and post-reading there’s a party at Vlada.
7pm // Borders Columbus Circle [10 Columbus Circle] // Free
Remember Sassy? We absorbed each issue, page by page and word by word. Well, apparently the mag changed some lives, and authors Kara Jesella and Marisa Meltzer are here to read from their book "How Sassy Changed My Life." The book "tells the inside story of Sassy Magazine's rise and fall. A teen magazine with an enormous, almost cult-like following, Sassy enjoyed a brief but brilliant run from 1988 to 1994."
7pm // Bluestockings [172 Allen St] // Free
MUSIC: Most of the big shows are sold out (Amy Winehouse, Arcade Fire, Beirut, Ben Gibbard, Bjork..), so what to do? Captured By Robots and The Teddy Bear Orchestra are playing Luna Lounge. The former plays electro metal that, honestly, frightens us. The latter seem just as scary even if they are wearing teddy bear costumes, video here.

Not your thing? Maybe stand outside one of the other venues asking if anyone can "miracle you a ticket" for one of the above listed sold out shows.
7:30pm // Luna Lounge [361 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn] // $10
THEATER: As if the English-import dominance on Broadway wasn’t enough to make American theater-makers a wee bit insecure, 59E59 is showing us how they roll Off-“Broadway” across the pond. (Off-West End?) There’s a lot to chew on but not a surfeit; one don’t-you-dare-miss-it show is The Receipt by Will Adamsdale and Chris Branch. In it, a man picks up a random receipt on the street and is consumed by a quixotic, mysterious quest to find the “owner”. It’s a hilarious, subversive and flat-out brilliant two-man romp through our increasingly Kafka-esque world of corporate bureaucracy and dismayingly generic office parks, with stunning sound design, Moog synth, and musical filing cabinets. - John Del Signore
8:30pm // 59E59 [59 E 59th St] // Tickets cost $25
EVENT: There's a whole slew of events coming up at the Bicycle Film Festival, which starts later this month on the 16th. The BFFs are getting antsy though, so come help them get psyched with a pre-party tonight. If you plan to enjoy the PBR open bar and $1 drink specials all night, be sure to leave your bike at home!
9pm // Lit [93 2nd Ave] // Free
