Raising the Bottle

2007_04_food_vestry.JPGWine stores just keep on getting better, and Vestry Wines, which opened this past Monday, has set the bar even higher. Well, actually they set the bar on the back side of the checkout counter (where they conduct free in-store tastings), but you get the point. What sets Vestry Wines apart is their breath and depth of selection in Italian, Californian and French wines. General Manager, Jim Kuhner and Wine Consult, Shelley Lindgren (Wine Director at A16 in San Francisco) are largely to thank for that. Their vast experience and relationships with Italian and California wines producers has resulted in a special selection of wines that you don’t find just about anywhere else. In fact, many of the wines available at Vestry are not sold at other retailers in Manhattan.

Another reason to check out Vestry Wines is the innovative software they are using to improve the customer experience. Once you buy wine from Vestry, it will be logged onto your account called “myCellar.” On this program you can track your purchases, make tasting notes and rate the wines you buy. This information can be accessed from a kiosk in the store or from their website which can then be used by the Sommeliers at Vestry to help you select additional wines based on your preferences.

Vestry Wines has made wine-buying experience more innovative and user-friendly. We can only hope that this now becomes the standard for those to come.

do they carry magnum's of yellow tail?

Italian, Californian AND French? What unique choices for wine regions. That must really set them apart!

"What sets Vestry wines apart is their breath"

best typo i've seen in a while

Checked their web site. They have a few interesting items, but they have virtually zero in the $15 (or even $20) and under category. Not a single Cotes du Rhone? Like 2 Bordeaux? Not much of a French selection in my book. Why are you plugging this place?

I can only find one bordeaux on their site and also no wines from alsace-lorraine, which is a major French wine region last time I checked. so much for "breath". their california wines do look unique though. they're going for the sideways crowd: no merlot, not much cabernet, lots and lots of pinot. fine by me.

they're selling egly-ouriet boutique champagne for 55 and I saw it at sherry lehman today for $50. 2 years ago this wine was only $40.

this looks like a good store but by ineptly shilling for them you create negative-publicity. I demand you give me the free case of dugat-py you got for writing this drivel.
