Last night we dropped by Evan Roth's Geek Graffiti class at Parsons for the final project presentations. The MFA students in the class had put together some amazing stuff. Our favorite project was was a reaction to the ubiquitous "Dan Smith Will Teach You Guitar" posters that you see all over the city. The artist got a copy of one of the posters, and remixed it to have Dan teaching a variety of interesting activities:
DAN SMITH NOW WILL TEACH YOU: HUNTING SEWING QUANTUM PHYSICS KEYSTROKE LOGGING and best yet... HOW TO FLYER
Each flier also includes a telephone number which records messages from people looking for Dan Smith's help. Some of those are hilarious.

(phone ringing)
Dan Smith: Hello.
Gothamist: Do you teach spelling?
This is such a hilarious project. I see those Dan Smith posters everywhere. I think "Dan Smith will teach you postering" is a viable class. If he's as good at guitar as he is at postering, then sign me up!
last summer a coffee shop in soho had over 45 friends and artists create their own versions of the dan smith flyer displayed inside. it was awesome.
I hope Dan Smith has a sense of humor/is not litigous/doesn't mind getting a lot of random phone calls.
In order for Dan Smith to have a sense of humor, he would have to be at least 75% human, which, at least in my findings, he is not. Fortunately they seemed to have changed the phone number on the parody flyers, so there shouldn't be a problem. Hilarious!
"Lets laugh at the Mexican, who gets paid $200 per 65 hour week while he tries to take down a flier I made for a college class my mom paid for"...its not graffiti, it performance art at best. There's a Masters class for this? sheesh.
...and why do you assume he is Mexican??
btw: he is removing an actual Dan Smith poster, not one of the fake ones.
i think whateverwhatever needs to be a little more self-righteous. I guess his mom paid for his education at cynical asshole university. But I'm sure that deli guy feels great whateverwhatev marginalized his job, and pay to be taking down flyers for $200 a week..
