Rudy's Gay/Bi-Ambiguous Stance

This is why no one-time NYC mayor has ever managed to reach the office of the President. New York leads the way, but the rest of the country is, more often than not, a reluctant follower. The political baggage former New York mayors are saddled with as the excecutive head of the Big Apple becomes an albatross that most men are unable to shrug off as they make their plays for higher office. Observe the tap dancing currently being played out on New Hampshire's primary dance floor:

"Mayor Giuliani believes marriage is between one man and one woman. Domestic partnerships are the appropriate way to ensure that people are treated fairly," the Giuliani campaign said in a written response to a question from the Sun. "In this specific case the law states same sex civil unions are the equivalent of marriage and recognizes same sex unions from outside states. This goes too far and Mayor Giuliani does not support it."

This must be disappointing to the gay couple who let Giuliani crash on their couch after his prior wife threw him out of Gracie Mansion during their divorce.

There is really no point in trying to answer you point by point since most of your post wildly extrapolates the wrong conclusions from my statements starting with how I never said I wanted Giuliani to win the Presidency. If you can show me where I said this I would appreciate it. I had a good laugh when you told me to vote for him in the primary. Like I said, that would require me to register as a Republican. And if the Republican base doesn't vote for him because his infidelity then so be it. That's a party problem for them. I just think it's hypocritical for any Democrat to make it an issue. As far as I recall, Giuliani never weighed in on the Lewinsky scandal. Feel free to call Newt Gingrich a hypocrit since he did have an affair while the impeachment was going on.

I also had a food laugh at the irony of you accusing me of using GOP talking points.

I didn't say Clinton was responsible for 9/11 but to believe he has no responsibility for the state of global affairs in 2001 is entirely dishonest and hypocritical. And if you don't see how foreign policy and security are entwined then there really is no hope for you. You apparently don't read the papers or watch CNN to see the Democrats hammering this point home.

I had hopes for Rudy. I thought he could make the Republican Party more tolerant on social issues. After all, I would much rather see a Republican Party platform that reflects the social views of Rudy than of George Bush.

I was also hoping that we might have the first northeastern president since John Kennedy.

But Rudy's going to play to the far right. I doubt he can win the Republican nomination that way because it will be so easy for his opponents to prove that he has come to these views lately.
