Texting With More Than Faint Praise

2007_04_bbgore.jpg

Mayor Bloomberg and former Vice President Al Gore were on hand for the kick-off of this year's Tribeca Film Festival. Gore and Bloomberg traded compliments: Gore said that the mayor's congesting pricing initiative was "gutsy" and when asked if presidential candidates were talking about environmental issues, Gore said, "Well, I think Mike is." And the AP reported, "The mayor, standing to Gore's right, turned red and laughed."

In turn, Mayor Bloomberg said, "People talk about Al Gore being a presidential candidate a lot more serious than they joke about me. This guy could be a presidential candidate. He certainly has experience. I’ve always been in favor of the public having more choice. I hope Al Gore enters the race; I think it would be good for the country.”

And Mayor Bloomberg multi-tasked, as he checked his Blackberry during the press op.

Does anyone else think both photos on the left look doctored? What is going on with Al's hand?

Gore is starting to look like actor Michael Blum - the guy who played the evil boyfriend in Crocodile Dundee.

Actually, I like the jolly Al Gore. It's like he added 40 pounds and a personality.

Any doubts that the country is ready for President Al Gore (and that he would be able to reach across the aisle) should be put to rest by the fact that he is being praised by major Republicans (Bloomberg and Schwarzenegger among others).
