Last Night's Action: Nets Waste a Chance

Raptors 89, Nets 83: All the pressure in Game 2 was on the Raptors, but they came back and evened this series at one game apiece. This game had a painfully low-scoring first half, but things picked up down the stretch as Toronto's Chris Bosh and Anthony Parker overcame the efforts of Jason Kidd and Vince Carter for the Nets. Richard Jefferson's absence in the first half -- he didn't score and ended up with 13 -- no doubt hurt the Nets, who still had chances to win. The key possession came when Jefferson missed a jumper with the Nets up by one and under a minute to go. Toronto took the lead, made its free throws and has the series tied going into Game 3 at New Jersey on Friday.

Mets 2, Rockies 1: Down to their final strike in the 10th inning, the Mets had their hopes on Damion Easley, who hit a solo homer to center field to tie the game. In the 12th inning, Endy Chavez hit a game-winning drag-bunt single up the first-base line. Those hits erased Billy Wagner's mistakes in the top of the 10th and let the Mets take their second straight against the Rockies.

Devil Rays 6, Yankees 4: What's the point of being a left-handed specialist if you can't keep Carl Crawford from hitting a grand slam? Mike Myers will be asking himself that question after allowing a one-run Yankees lead to turn into a three-run Yankees deficit in that most distasteful manner. Alex Rodriguez didn't get a hit for the first time this season. Trade him.
