Get Ready For Round 2 of the NHL Playoffs
After spending a week healing their wounds, the Rangers head into the second round of the playoffs tonight rested and ready. They will need to be at the top of their game to beat the Buffalo Sabres, a deep and talented team with plenty of guys who can fly all over the ice.
Sean Avery has vowed to make every check hurt and the Rangers are going to need to put hits on the Sabres and slow the game down if they want to compete. Backchecking will be critical and players like Avery, Betts and Ortmeyer are going to have to get into the corners and get the puck. The Rangers have the talent to play with Buffalo, but we think the Sabres will prevail in six hard-fought games.
The Devils take the ice tomorrow night against Ottawa and they had better be ready to face another team with the ability to score a lot of goals. Danny Heatley scored 50 goals this season, while the Senators had 4 other players score 20 or more.
Ray Emery had an outstanding season in goal and while he will be tough to beat, Martin Brodeur is better. How do we see it? The Senators stretch the Devils to the limit, but New Jersey wins in seven.

Rangers win this series in 6
you heard it here first
what i'd like to know from gothamist is where are you guys organizing to watch the games for those of us who cant afford playoff tickets?
i'll be at bounce in the east village. what are other good rangers sports bars?
While the Isles-Sabres series was an overmatch, they're tougher than they look. Besides, I tend to prefer a team that fought for their wins comign into a series, instead of beating the pushover team (a VERY weak 3-seed; but then again, so was the entire SE division).
Sabres in 6
Um, what's a hockey??
Someone redid an entering Buffalo sign on the Kensington today...it was changed, to read, "Entering Pomonville." Which gives you an idea how rabid we are about hockey here! (Joe, go somewhere else and play.)
Ok, I'll give you, that we're gonna have to be really good, to beat the Rangers, but like everyone else in Buffalo, I have an odd aptitude for hope. Miller's a Thriller! We're Scary Good!
Rangers in 7. Tonight was a BAD game for the boys in blue. I went to Bar None the other day on 3rd ave and 13th to watch....it was ok.
