Noteworthy Television This Week: Some Real Dogs

A look at some noteworthy television programs this week:

Nature: Dogs That Changed The World: The Rise of the Dog (Sunday, 8:00 p.m. WNET 13; Wednesday, 9:00 p.m., WLIW 21) The first of a two part look at man's best friend, the dog. Part one looks at the origins of domesticated dogs and inquires about the theory that links domestication to human's trash. A behind the scenes podcast looking into the challenges of filming dogs is also offered.

The Apprentice: Los Angeles (Sunday, 10 p.m., WNBC 4) The words "Live from the Hollywood Bowl" make you think of some sort of great musical performance, or at least of Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl. Instead of a great performance, we have Donald Trump wrapping up this season of his reality show. No doubt it will be huge.

London Underground Map (Monday, 2:30 a.m., WNET 13) A late night/early morning treat for subway and graphic design nerds from channel thirteen is a documentary about the development of the iconic London Underground map.

Cities of the Underworld (Monday, 9:00 p.m., History Channel) A 13 episode series looking at the underground secrets of cities including London, Paris, Rome, and New York debuts. The first episode of the series looks at Edinburgh, Scotland.

Heroes (Monday, 9 p.m., WNBC 4) The return of Heroes is the only bright spot on NBC's schedule this night.

The Real Wedding Crashers (Monday, 10 p.m., WNBC) This cheap fakeality drivel "from the creators of Punk'd" is the replacement for The Black Donnellys. You have been warned.

Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll (Tuesday, 9 p.m., WPIX 11) This show ends this week with the selection of the Next Doll.

Bill Moyers Journal: Buying The War (Wednesday, 9:00 p.m. WNET 13) Veteran journalist Bill Moyers brings into focus how the media was complicit in the lead up to the Iraq war and inquires why the professional skeptic role of the media has seemed to be thrown by the wayside.

30 Rock (Thursday, 9 p.m., WNBC 4) The season finale of one of the better shows on the NBC lineup and which thankfully will be back next season.

Blue Print New York (Friday, 8:30 p.m., WNYE 25) The episode that looks at the history and present day at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden re-airs.

Raines (Friday, 9 p.m., WNBC 4) This quirky original police drama wraps up the season, and hopefully not the show itself. Jeff Goldblum stars as a LAPD detective who can't get the victim out of his head. In the finale, Raines investigates the murder of his ex-wife's husband.
