Their definition of "binge drink" is pretty specious - 5 drinks on one occasion over the course of 3 hours is not the same as 5 drinks in 20 minutes, which is more "binge drinking" in my book.

I don't know why the media is blowing this story out of proportion. It must be a slow news day, because the real story is that the figures above are BELOW THE NATIONAL AVERAGE. Believe it or not, New Yorkers drink less than the rest of the country.
