What's wrong with Jeter? A slow start, perhaps, but other than that, nothing. First, 2006 was likely his career year. And it was quite a year, as he nearly won the MVP. But the law of averages suggests we'll never see a year like that again. Defensively, he has become fairly sure-handed, despite never having had very good range. His gold gloves are, in fact, a joke. Expect him to finish this year with a solid OBP near .390 and 15 home runs, with slightly below average D.

Why not just have Cashman buy him some kind of bionic right arm?

Or at least subway fare and a haircut at the Lemon Tree, sheesh.

Jimmy is correct. Jeter is an average shortstop, at best. A-Rod is vastly better at the position.

Jeter has always been a mediocre-at-best fielding shortstop. Anyone who watched the Yankees regularly and isn't named Michael Kay or John Sterling could see that. His three Gold Gloves are a joke among anyone who pays attention to baseball and doesn't buy into Yankee hype.

"Yankee fans will be booing Jeter. Wait. That could never happen, not to DJ."

sarcasm i hope... if you remember correctly, in '04 he started off the season hitting under .200 and had an 0 - 32 stretch during which he was booed at the stadium. last season, when a-rod was getting some, he said it himself:

"I got booed, Mo got booed, Tino got booed the first half of the season. Jason got booed. Everyone got booed, but it's not your job to say, 'Hey, everybody should stop booing.'"

chances are he might get booed again.
