Free Cone Day!

freeconeday07.jpgSo you had to get an extension on your taxes -- bummer. We know what can cheer you up -- free ice cream! That's right, it's free cone day at Ben & Jerry's from 12pm until 8pm. Brave the lines, take advantage of the fact that it's not raining (at least not now) and get yourself some comfort in a cone. We've been in past years, and although the lines can be tough at certain locations, we were placated immediately as soon as that free scoop of coffee toffee crunch was in our clutches.

I still haven't gotten over the letdown of the Bleecker St. location not participating last year. Imagine my joy when there was no line! Imagine my sorrow to find that there was no free cream to be had. I sank into such a depression that the only relief to be found was at the bottom of a pint of Half Baked. For a year. At the bodega. Full price. Law suit pending.

I work at 30 Rock and the Ben & Jerry's in the concourse has a 30 minute line.
Doesn't make any sense.

The one on 3rd Ave always has like a 45 minute minute line. I guess people's hours are worth $2 or whatever the ice cream is worth.

Very curiously the Brooklyn Ben and Jerry's on Atlantic Avenue is closed today for "renovations." They were open yesterday, if they are open tomorrow, I will boycott Ben and Jerry's. I walked all the way over from work, and there was a closed sign in the door. Jerks...

It is a shame that Ben & Jerry were bought out around seven years ago by mega-multinational Unilever and how truly hippie love and granola they still are despite having in theory an independent board of directors.

The location of the participating B&Js are messed up. Why give free ice cream only in places where the people are well off?
