Metallic Nature in Manhattan Park

steelboulder.jpg

Artist Roxy Paine is installing a series of metal sculptures in Madison Square Park. Gothamist reader S.D. happened upon workers putting the pieces in place and took some pictures, one of which is shown above. If you're anywhere near 23rd St. in Manhattan, this might be an interesting thing to check out.

The trees and boulder look like they are made of SKY.

Rule of thumb: If it sucks, make it bigger.

I this safe? Looks like it may cause airplanes to crash.

It looks like metallic poo.

Big metallic poo.

It was different. Me, I'd love to get close up to the tree's and get some close up shots of it.

The Boulder does look odd, but I bet it'll be a hit with the kids. I hope not but I wonder if anyone will spray paint it?

"t looks like metallic poo.

Big metallic poo."

That's exactly what I was thinking.

So this is what passes for public art these days. God forbid some philistine puts up a naturalistic statue.
