READING: Albert Einstein had a pretty crazy life, from his rebellious childhood to marrying his first cousin (happy couple pictured at right). Walter Isaacson's biography of the man (Einstein: His Life and Universe) will shed light on things you probably don't even want to know. Come meet the man behind the equation (well, at least the man behind the book about the man behind the equation).
7pm // Barnes & Noble [33 E 17th St] // Free
THEATER: Partly inspired by Euripides’s The Bacchae, Eric Winick’s play Rearviewmirror uses intertwined monologues to tell the story of three twentysomethings who fall in and out of love with each other, Israel, and a charismatic musician/cult leader named Michael Dionne. Their obsessions ultimately come to a boil at a concert given by Dionne at a stadium in Brooklyn. Theater Mania says “it flies by with never a dull moment.” - John Del Signore
7:30pm // 59E59 [59 E 59th St] // Tickets cost $20
MUSIC: We first heard Rosie Thomas when she sang with Damien Jurado. With him or without him, she's a great performer with an incredible voice - and some real down and out melancholy songs (so get in the mood for mope). Tonight she's at Southpaw with the band These Friends of Mine.
8pm // Southpaw [125 5th Ave, Park Slope] // $10
TV: Since "Lost" is getting good again, it might be time to hit up this weekly event. Watch the show, drink $5 tropical themed bevies, and get a free shot of Jungle Juice anytime someone refers to "The Others". Free Mind Eraser shots will be distributed if “the outsider chick gets into a fight (at least 1 punch must be thrown), Nikki and/or Paulo are somehow still alive, or if Locke gets somebody else killed, again." And of course free drinks all night if Locke blows up the whole island.
Nikki and Paulo are totally still alive, and that was a shallow grave they dug, so we're guessing there will be some free Mind Eraser's tonight.
10pm // Professor Thom’s [219 2nd Ave] // Free

rosie thomas is hilarious and one of the most wonderful female songwriters/voices playing today. check out her myspace/rosiethomasmusic or rosiethomas.com
also might as well namedrop the "friends" on her last album inc sufjan stevens and denison witmer.
seeing her live is a rare treat in NYC!
thanks for mentioning :)
If N&P are still alive, that would be totally lame. I don't care how shallow a grave it was, if you've got sand covering your nose and mouth and can't breathe, you're kinda gonna die.
BTW, that was the shittiest episode ever.
the show was merely an exercise, an homage to the twilight zone, which is a big influence on "lost."
