Tim, regardless of the booing, even if over the last three years he had been showered with praise, flowers and virgins by yankee fans, he would still be just as likely to opt out and renegociate his contract as he is now after three years of (at times unjust) scrutiny. he's a businessman, and he is represented by boras, who will always try to sqeeze as much out of a contract as possible. thats why his contract was written that way despite already being the biggest contract ever all those years ago. don't hate the players, hate the game.

Hope you booers and haters are happy when he's doing this in an Angels uniform next year. For the meantime, I'll keep wearing my Arod t-shirt for as long as it's applicable.
