Last Night's Action: Another A-Bomb From A-Rod

  • Yankees 10 Twins 1: Apparently, Alex Rodriguez should have come clean about his relationship with Derek Jeter years ago. Unburdened by no longer living a lie, Rodriguez has opened the season as well as anyone ever has, belting his sixth homer in seven games Tuesday night as part of a 10-run barrage by the Yankees’ offense.

A-Rod got things started in the first and the other bats joined in later. Johnny Damon hit a three-run homer and every starter reached base at least once. Andy Pettitte rebounded from his terrible start last week to pitch six shutout innings.

  • Chicago 98 Knicks 69: Think back to March 12th when Jim Dolan announced that Isiah Thomas had met his criteria of “evident progress” with the Knicks and was being rewarded with a multi-year contract extension. Since that day, the Knicks have gone 3-15 and while apologists will point to several injuries, Jim Dolan might want to look at his hockey team which was handed numerous injuries down the stretch, but made the playoffs before buying that excuse.

Technically, the Knicks aren’t out of it yet, but one more loss or Orlando win will do it and don’t forget, that lottery pick will end up in the Bulls’ hands thanks to the Eddy Curry trade.

  • Nets 96 Wizards 92: The Nets keep marching towards the playoffs with another great night from the big three. Jefferson and Carter had 35 and 31 points each while Jason Kidd pulled down 14 rebounds to go with 11 assists.

Gosh, it must be his option year!

Hope you booers and haters are happy when he's doing this in an Angels uniform next year. For the meantime, I'll keep wearing my Arod t-shirt for as long as it's applicable.

Tim, regardless of the booing, even if over the last three years he had been showered with praise, flowers and virgins by yankee fans, he would still be just as likely to opt out and renegociate his contract as he is now after three years of (at times unjust) scrutiny. he's a businessman, and he is represented by boras, who will always try to sqeeze as much out of a contract as possible. thats why his contract was written that way despite already being the biggest contract ever all those years ago. don't hate the players, hate the game.
