Egg-Hunt Rundown

easterphant.jpgOne of the best things about Easter always occurring on a Sunday is that you can spend your Saturday doing cool stuff like submerging hardboiled eggs in colored dyes smelling of vinegar, going from K-Mart to Target to K-Mart again trying to find that perfect Easter basket to fill with cellophane grass, putting the finishing touches on one's bonnet, or perhaps just enjoying one of the first weekends of spring knowing that a good portion of the city is in holiday-mode, so we can all just relax.

If you have kids, the NYC Parks Department has a list of activities scheduled for today around the city, including egg decorating, egg hunting, and all sorts of other great stuff in all five boroughs. Some from the list:

Spring Egg Challenge!
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
RUFUS KING PARK

Brooklyn Bridge Park Spring Fling Egg Hunt
11:00 am - 2:00 pm
BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK

Spring Egg Hunt
12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
DETECTIVE KEITH WILLIAMS RECREATION CENTER

Spring Eggstravaganza
12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
VAN CORTLANDT PARK

Just remember that if you find a "kinder SURPRISE" chocolate treat in your easter basket, the surprise is a choking hazard to young children.

Kinder Surprise Eggs are legal everywhere in the damn world except the US. You can still buy them, though, in small groceries. I don't see how someone could choke on the full-size plastic egg that is inside the chocolate. Can't we just police ourselves? The toys inside are so cool. Not like Cracker Jack with their lame "safe" stickers and mini baseball cards.

Is that the same elephant that was on the front page of Metro on Thursday eating matzah?

Believe me sw, that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the Easter Elephant picture. The Passover Pachyderm was named Asia, but I'm not familiar enough with the animals to be able to tell them apart.

Wow just think about how that animal feels . Sure am glad I'm human ! Hey where are all the PETA people at ?
