  • Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: Found Explosive at Broadway and 116th St. in Manhattan, a Manhole Fire on Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn, and a Homicide at 140-10 123rd Ave. in Queens.
  • How to get a Manhattan hotel room for less than $200 a night. And it's not the Whitehouse on Bowery!
  • Uphill and downhill could be two ways to characterize traffic safety debate in Park Slope, as a proposed bike lane for the incline known as 9th St. is run down by the neighborhood's Civic Council.
  • Poly-Polly Safari as the folks from BrooklynParrots.com go from Brooklyn College to Green-Wood Cemetary in a bird-watching double-header.
  • Talk radio is classy: Don Imus calls the student athletes of Rutgers' Women's Basketball team "nappy headed hos" in a flagrant foul.
  • Remember the Staten Island man who "stepped out" of the minivan he had parked at the edge of a cliff and watched as his suicidal wife drove it over the edge with their two kids inside? The FBI found child porn on his computer.

  • Parting shot: a man giving a friend a lift to JFK so he could catch a flight to LA was shot dead outside of Terminal 7 while the two were arguing. The shooter then directed the dead man's girlfriend to drop him off so he could catch a cab.

Wow, this is an oldie of a photo. I shot that ages ago. Really do love the color though.

The Whitehouse sucks. I suggested it to an out-of-town friend and the old man behind the counter was so rude to him that I apologized to him for months afterward and never gave him another recommendation again.

Go I'Man Go. Freedom of speech. Equal Rights! Did what he say was 'offensive'? Mayby. Funny at the time? Yes. But it was 'funnyb' in my eyes. Does it mean I'm a racist? No. I laugh when black comedian's pick out our faults. It's funny. We all have our quirks. We all pick on each other, we all make fun of each other. Blacks make 'cracker' jokes about me. Do I care? No. Some of them are legit. It's just a different view on life as we know it. Take it with a grain of salt. We all move on. We're all Pink on the inside. I'm no huge Imus fan, but, it was a joke (maybe a poor one). Did anyone ever call Richard Pryor out when he busted on whitey? No. Because he was real, and we ALL realized and respected it. God how I wish I could have met him before he passed. Nobody ever called him out, because they knew what he was about. Nobody took offense. He was an honest man, which is very hard to find. Where was Sharpton then? It was a joke. Move on.
