- Queens DA Richard Brown is leading the charge to bring the death penalty back to New York State.

- Small children and exposed wiring are a bad combination in a Brooklyn shopping mall.
- A homeless man standing on a subway platform at the Rockefeller Center station–Top of the Rock!–yesterday evening suddenly jumped in front of an incoming V train. The man survived by sheltering himself in the trough between rails and, presumably, not meeting the death stares of annoyed commuters.
- The cost of construction in the city could rise with the adoption of a new building code.
- A Yonkers woman loses custody of her five children just as cops locate her missing 11-year-old son, who had walked away from the panhandling spot she forced him to take in front of a grocery store.

What kinda idiot decides to kill himself and then saves himself?. Where's the frigging commitment man?.
I think it's pretty screwed up to add on "and, presumably, not meeting the death stares of annoyed commuters" -- if it were a "normal" guy, you wouldn't have written that. But because it is an expendable, crazy homeless dude, it's merely an inconvenience to commuters.
I guess in the mad rush of thoughts going through this guys mind, He realized death is not the answer .

I agree, man. I'm guilty of my share of slightly insensitive humor, but that was outright unnecessary.
