Sharpton has no desire to undertake a serious run for elective office. First, he knows he can't win.

He took a shot at running for mayor of NYC. His campaign died in the Democratic primary when he lost to Manhattan Borough president Ruth Messinger. He knows he isn't capable of winning an office higher than city councilman.

Winning an election, meanwhile, is bad news for Sharpton. He'd have to reveal way too much about his life before he'd pass any conflicts-of-interest investigation. He'd never do it.

An investigation into his background would probably lead to prosection for tax evasion and it might destroy his credibility with blacks who would have to face the fact that he's ripped them off for the last 25 years at least.

Meanwhile, Sharpton abandoned his wife and daughters. The daughters had been attending Poly Prep in Brooklyn. The heavy tuition had been paid by James Brown until he died. There's no way to know if his estate is still paying that bill, but it's a whopper.

#5 - That not correct since Al has been around MUCH longer than Liu, remember the fight with Roy Innus, Tawana Brawley, etc. Kids these days need to know their NY based African American activists/media whore history.

Irony is that Sharpton has complained that Obama has not done anything for the black community. He's SOOOO jealous of Obama's appeal and knows that he has no chance to be President.

Sharpton addressing a real problem in the black communit, one that was caused by blacks?

While it is about freakin' time he actually did something positive for black people, it is too little too late.

Hip Hop "culture" is ruining generations of black people who worship cars and champagne instead of education and family.

...and this is coming from someone who listens to hip hop (but listens to it as entertainment, not as a guide to how to live my life)
