Actually the Cardinals had the first game because they won the world series the year prior. Just like last year with the White Sox and the year prior with the Red Sox.

"Yes, baseball followed all the other sports and sold out for the highest dollar, ruining the best tradition in sports, Opening Day, but at least they put a New York team into “Opening Night” this year." Huh? What the hell are you talking about? Are you upset that the seasons first game was at night in St. Louis? I'm very confused by this statement. The last couple years the first game of the season has been overseas. First in Tokyo and then in Puerto Rico. I also believe it's a tradition for the Cardinals to open one day before everyone else. But hey, it's more fun to be indignant and complain how Baseball's "sold out". Yeah, 'cause that certainly didn't happen years and years ago.

umm... not quite sure what's so great about a tradition that only people who are lucky enough to be out of school, able to ditch work, or unemployed are able to take part in, but ok.
