This is some censorship bullshit. If you dont like the game, turn it off. If parents dont want it for their kids, they dont have to get it. Im sick of all this control on everything. Pretty soon we will have to ask to go to the bathroom. This is such crap. Where are MY GOD DAMN RIGHTS? Id like to buy this game because its real. Im pretty damn sure if the game were to have "subliminal messages" in it, we would know. Just because you play a violent game, doesnt mean your going to go off and shoot everyone. People like that are sick. they sit in their rooms and dwell on how their dad beat them and shit, and how nobody cares, so they want to kill everyone. look at columbine and virginia tech. Did they get guns and shoot everyone at school because a video game told them to? NO. they were FUCKED UP. Video games dont make people want to kill people, people will always want to kill people. Take responsibility of your kids and stop saying its video games or movies that makes them who they are. I know people who have parents who WANT them to smoke pot, and dont really care if they drop out of school or not, but those friends of mine actually do good and dont want to do that. They dont think its bad, so they dont do it. See if you put shit on a pedestal, we are going to want it even more. So fuck you mayor. Fuck your little perfect routine. Excuse ME! I live in New York City and I happen to be a huge fan of ALL the Grand Thef Auto games. I'll have you know that Rockstar has been making Grand Theft Auto games that took place in Liberty City, and I, nor do anyone else I know are bothered by that, in fact, we actually enjoy it because of its familiarity. This game is unbelievable. It is going to be amazing, realistic, and it will blow all other games out of the water (Until the next GTA). I do believe the sale of this game to minors should be frowned upon, but then again, there is always parents that will buy it for their 7 year old children. There's really nothin you can do.

Every time a politician denounces a video game, they lose my support. These people are elected to public office for the purpose of governing for their communities and constituencies, not to point at a game and say "Gun in game, uh-oh!" Talk about a lack of priorities. Once again, the game is set in LIBERTY CITY. Obviously, it has been remodeled to look nearly exactly like nyc. Take a loot at the shot of the vehicles traveling over the Queensboro/59th street bridge.

this being the first tiny little tidbit R* has yet released, i wouldnt be surprised (i hope) that there will be much much more to it than just Liberty City. Chances are though that it wont be exactingly modeled after NYC but will have the general layout, look and feel, and major landmarks, all with a sarcastic twist (such as the GetaLife building). I have been holding out on buying a next gen console just for this game. I can't wait!!!

Some other GTA's took place in "Libery City" which is modeled after NYC. But it seems that Rockstar finally decided to incorporate more (did the others have any?) landmarks. I really hope they stuck to the actual NYC layout, what fun that would be.

I am crazy psyched to play this one being set in NYC! GTA3 was NYCish but this takes the cake. I hope the street layouts are the same and that you can hit the outer boroughs as well as Manhattan.

Perhaps there’s a part that I don't remember where it does, but surely the game does not encourage it the way these politicians are harping on about. They should go after Katamari Damacy as that game is more twisted than any GTA game is.

I dont know. I dont think people are so stupid that they cant tell the difference between a game and real life, but I also dont get what is glamorous or addictive about violence. when you have seen it in real life its not that glamorous. violence is horrible and wrecks lives, there is something kind of distasteful about making it fun... i have 2 boys and I don't like banning things but I dont really want them playing on this one, it stands for a lot of things I think are wrong, actually. anyone out there feel the same?

You know you don't HAVE to kill cops in the game. You can win the entire game without having to shoot or kill any. The thing is that the game LETS you shoot them, but of course there are consequences to such actions (Although those consequences are quite lax in the GTA games.) As for me, this might be the only reason I will buy a PS3. I can't wait for this to come out.

Part of the fun of games like this is being able to drive around and actually see shit you recognize. From the looks of things, it'll be way better (and more realistic) than True Crime: NYC -- granted, they got the statue at Madison Square Park right, but a lot of it was way off. Is NYC really the "safest big city in America"? First I'd heard of it.
