Staten Island Cop Killer Faces Death

2007_03_ronellwilson.jpgRonell Wilson, who was found guilty and sentenced to death in January for the 2003 murder of two undercover police officers, was formally sentenced yesterday. The prosecution and defense argued their positions on the sentence once again, and then Wilson, who did not speak during the entire trial, said:

"I would like to say that since there’s no jury here — like the prosecutors had said plenty of times that I had to prove to them — I’d like to say to the families of the victims that I’m sorry, I’m very sorry for the pain that I really caused you. I know it don't mean much and you still look at me as the lowest thing on Earth, but in my heart I tell you that I'm very sorry again...

"...None of us knew these men were cops. Period."

However, Federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis questioned Wilson's sincerity. (And the prosecution didn't need to prove Wilson knew his victims were cops, according to the Sun.) The Daily News reports Garaufis responded, "He disposed of [the slain detectives, James Nemorin and Rodney Andrews] in a way people would not dispose of garbage." Garaufis then said, "It is the judgment of this court that Ronell Wilson be sentenced to death." Wilson will now go to the Terre Haute Federal Correctional Complex in Indiana.

Hundreds of police officers appeared for the sentencing. Detectives' Endowment Association president Michael Palladino said, "There will be nothing more gratifying that hearing Judge Garaufis impose the ultimate punishment."

You know what, considering that both of the cops this guy killed were *black* themselves, your little obsession with Al Sharpton shows that you either have obsessive disorder, or you are just a racist fool with no forum to spew but Gothamist. Probably both.

No one is actually ever going to "face" death in NY. It just ain't gonna happen. If we're not going to employ the death penalty, we should just remove it from the books and save a lot of money in the process.

Gothamits forums make Stormfront.org's look like heaven.

At least they know they are biased.

It will be years before all the appeals are completed and Wilson actually might face the Big Needle.

none of them knew they were cops, so it was ok to kill them?

Charles...

First off, no one is more racist than Al Sharpton.
He hates black people (the next positive thing he does for black people will be the first positive thing he does for black people), white people…he hates all races except the Al Sharpton race.

Secondly, where was the racist statement in that original comment?

Finally, Al Sharpton has shown nothing but contempt for the police and never once speaks out when an officer is shot or killed, no matter what the officer’s skin tone might be.

You, like Sharpton, cried racism rather than addressing the real issues at hand.

Because on this website, if a black person committing a crime against anyone is reported, some fool has to come in and yell "Al Sharpton!" anonymously like a chump and then run away. If the killer had not been black I *guarantee* that the two words "Al" and "Sharpton" would not have come up. Or if Sharpton himself was not black, people wouldnt be as riled about it.

Of course race plays into this-it's being willfully delusional to think that any mention of Al Sharpton does not center on race. That's the way he wants it and we all play into his hands and dont convince yourself that you are above everyone else and dont think about race when Al Sharpton's name is mentioned.

yes, i also came here to point out that this murdering retard seems to think that regular people are ok to slain, but had he known they were cops, well... no matter. fry or rot. just don't come back.

MY HERO!
and, I mean that.
On the serious side, notice how it's the Jamaican/Carib spouse who's the outspoken one and the American black spouse is still grappling with this. Very interesting, I must say.
I not only study white people, but black people, too. No, no one pays me to do that, I do it on my own.
Now, stop looking in my shopping cart to see what I'm buying. Chicken and giblets are in THAT isle.

Black, white or purple this is a piece of shit that should die for what he did.

This ain't Texas #[3] ! Lethal injection is good enough . Just do it in the near future, Don't let the guy sit in jail living off the system .

Yeah, it be a frame-up!
He be innocent!
Yo momma did it!
Yo momma so fat, she quit walking becua it be faster to roll!

This guy is gonna fry.

It's a federal case, not a New York state case.
