Last Night's Action: Waking Up Too Late?

  • Knicks 97, Cavaliers 93: Eddy Curry, who has shown the Knicks nothing over the past two weeks, scored 13 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter to help lead a comeback win over the Cavs. This may be a case of a day late and a dollar short, though. The Knicks remain two games behind the Nets for the final playoff spot, and they'll each play 12 more games. New York would also have to pass Indiana to make the postseason.

  • Nets 118, Pacers 94: A loss here would have cost the Nets dearly in playoff positioning, so it's good for them they didn't put forth one of their indifferent efforts. Josh Boone went 11-for-13 from the field to score 22. Bostjan Nachbar had 20. They no doubt benefited from the absence of Jermaine O'Neal, who couldn't throw his weight around the frontcourt with ankle and knee injuries.

  • Sabres 4, Devils 3: Could this be a preview of the Eastern Conference finals? Rarely do seeds hold up in the NHL playoffs, but if they do, the Sabres will have given their confidence a boost after struggling against the Devils in the past. Martin Brodeur is still three wins shy of the single-season record for victories. Brodeur's ability to play more games than most regular goalies have helped him remain in contention for that mark, but have his skills, which haven't eroded in a man who will turn 35 in May.
