Jenny From The Bronx

2007_03_arts_jlo.jpgLast night J.Lo was back in the Bronx to promote her new album (which dropped Tuesday), "Como Ama una Mujer," or "How a Woman Loves." She was accompanied by her husband Marc Anthony (who also produced the new Spanish language album). She addressed the crowd in Spanish and English:

"I want to say thank you to everyone for coming to celebrate with me this very special day for me. It touches my heart to be able to bring this album back to my neighborhood, back to my home."

Seems she comes back to her old neighborhood every time she promotes a new album (about 500 people showed up last night, pictured). Remember the video for Jenny From The Block?

This was actually covered in the news broadcast last night. I screamed obscenities at my television for wasting time covereing something like this. Given the world we live in, this should be the absolute lowest priority for the news.

I don't give a crap if silly blogs cover it, but come on. I visited Chinatown yesterday. I'm sure you didn't hear about it, but interestingly enough it is about as consequential as j-lo visting the city. Also, I can speak Spanish

I work in the area and walked past the F.Y.E. store to get to the 4. It was a mob scene and folks seem like they were having fun. Drivers, on the other hand, were not having fun, as the already jammed Jerome Avenue just couldn't handle the partial street closing. One driver muttered something loudly out of his open car window about her in Spanish, and by his tone, he sounded none too pleased. But hey, nothing else fun that I can see happens in this neighborhood, so a little J-Lo was better than the usual nothing.

When she sang "jenny from the block"... i didn't realize she was talking about the tax preparation place...
