Would be that our thrifty-minded Mayor should reveal how much taxpayer money was wasted on these pre-RNC undercover operations. The kind of money that may have been put to more practical uses - like furnishing auxilliary cops with bulletproof vests. And if our Mayor is a real New Yorker, not a visitor who abandons the city on weekends, maybe he'd like to take a sidewalk-facing apartment on Mulberry Street for 2 weeks during the next San Gennaro. Then he'd have an up-close-and-personal seat for all the noise, garbage and boorish behavior generated by this generic fest.

I just watched 'Mean Streets' last night and there's a scene where Harvey Keitel and Robert DeNiro are driving through Little Italy talking and DeNiro says to Keitel "I hate this friggin' festival with a passion" or something to that extent. If Scorcesse felt that way I'm inclined to agree.

IMO, The Mayor's seems to think that if your politically active, your a potential Terrorist. Wonder if the NYPD kept track of the few anti-war Republican Groups? The City dropped the Critical Mass Lawsuit? So much for being "tough" on crime. How much money did the City waste on the Mayor's foolish vendetta??

the city dropped its lawsuit against ...Critical Mass. ..."the City dropped this case because it did not want to disclose information that was going to come out in the discovery process...that would be damning of the undemocratic and illegal tactics that are the darlings of the police, Raymond Kelly and Mayor Bloomberg. That the city has to protect itself from the people that finance its spy schemes is a classic totalitarian move. Bloomberg is showing his fascist side. Kelly simply is fascist; he doesn't have another side.
