And today is the last day to apply for Gothamist's Weekend Editor gig-- "Responsibilities include writing 10 posts per day on Saturday and Sunday and organizing the flow of contributions from other writers. The pay is competitive with blog-writing gigs for other NYC media companies. Requirements: real blogging experience, a serious appetite for NYC-related content, and a genuine love for the city. This job can be done from anywhere within the five boroughs, but you may be called downtown to meet with us once or twice a month. If you're interested, email Jake (at) Gothamist-- no attachments please-- just a short paragraph about you and a few links to relevant work on the web."

I saw the matzo story in the Times this morning; it claimed that the bus/oven is legal.

Additionally, the Times' story should win an award for worst Tom Wolfe reference ever: "From Rabbi, the Eclectic Shul Aid Matzo Test". Now, maybe the title would fit if it was a VW bus...

Crack stored in the wall is rarely usable. I can just see a bunch of area residents frantically looking on the ground... "I think I see a rock!"

I would gladly apply for the weekend editor gig if I was still in New York. If you throw in plane tickets, I'm there!

Otherwise I'm sticking with Torontoist :)

While i think the Lidle's should get something for their loss of Cory, let the truth be known that Cory Lidle, since 1997, has made a total of $17,880,000 (not including endorsements). I can't imagine he has pissed it all away.

They still don't know if he was flying the plane or not (and prob won't know). That's the point. Just sayin'.

The city will begin providing bullet-proof vests to Auxiliary cops-- but they still won't be allowed to carry guns.
It usually takes a high profile tragedy to get old policies changed....this is the quote of the NYPD chief “The circumstances of the death of these two officers were such that these bullet proof vests would not have protected them,” said Kelly. “But, in the future, they may very well save an officer's life
