THEATER: Theodora Skipitares is a Greek-American playwright, director and puppeteer who uses near life-size puppets and Greek tragedies to look at our current situation in Iraq. (Her rendition of the Iliad and the Odyssey was a sold-out hit at La MaMa last year.) Her new show, which features puppetry and video, is The Exiles, an adaptation of the Orestes/Electra myth. “In this particular story of betrayal and vengeance, these puppets are an eerie construction of facade and public display, while their operators are a shadow of primal, often raw emotions and personal desires.” (Read last month's Times profile of Skipitares here.) - John Del Signore

EVENT: UnCoolKids point us towards BubbleBath. It's "a way for people to come together and to connect with each other (and to blow bubbles), but above all, it is way for people to have fun and to enjoy the first weekend of Spring together. BubbleBath is free and open to the public; although bubbles will be provided guests are encouraged to BYOB(ubbles!).“ Sounds cool, but Bubble Battle seems way cooler.

Saturday // Noon // Union Square [14th St between Broadway and University Pl] // Free

Maike%20Scultz.jpgTHEATER: Bouffon Glass Menajoree was a hit at last year’s New York Clown Theater Festival at The Brick Theater; its third extension concludes tonight. The exaltedly vulgar iteration of Tennessee Williams’s chamber piece employs absurd and grotesque clowning that, according to Time Out NY’s Garrett Eisler, finds audiences “convulsing with heretical laughter”. Each night, one lucky audience member is plucked from obscurity to play the role of Gentleman Caller and share the stage with a bunch of outcast clowns. (Ends tonight.)
- John Del Signore

Saturday // 8pm // Brick Theater [575 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn] // Tickets cost 10

MUSIC: Somewhere in the sea of skinny jeans and attitude, lies a good 'ol country music scene right in Brooklyn. Americana, bluegrass, and alt country performers will gather around Sunday for the first ever Brooklyn County Fair, a day-long celebration. Headlined by Sean Kershaw and the New Jack Ramblers and featuring JD & the WWJDs, The Becky Birmingham Band, Yarn, Rob Ryan, and The Flanks. There will also be a raffle, drink specials and BBQ!

Meanwhile, over at WKCR radio all weekend you can find another annual country music festival. The theme this year is "Bristol sessions, an open audition at which talent scout Ralph Peer first recorded country pioneers Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family."

Sunday // 1 to 8pm // Galapagos [70 North 6th St] // Free
