Pencil This In
READINGS: Jonathan Lethem reads from his new novel You Don't Love Me Yet. In it, Lethem leaves Boerum Hill for LA "to recount the near-fame experience of a Los Angeles alternative rock band". A girl, a boy and a band - sounds like a hipster love story to us!
7pm // Barnes & Noble [33 E 17th St] // Free
Saul Austerlitz talks about his book Money for Nothing: A History of the Music Video. Of course, now that MTV is just airing reality shows - and all the good stuff is on YouTube, he'll have to add a new chapter.
7pm // McNally Robinson Booksellers [50 Prince St] // Free
THEATER: The Best is a multimedia theater collective that puts on rowdy rock/theater extravaganzas with an anti-establishment bent. The gang has been building international solidarity – they were recently seen at Australia’s Brisbane Festival – with their weird live internet “Bestcasts” on their website. The Best's latest high-tech spectacle, OEDI Cycle, starts a four night run at the Ohio Theater tonight as part of Soho Think Tank. (The Cycle consists of two different shows alternating throughout the run.) - John Del Signore
8pm // Ohio Theater [66 Wooster St] // Tickets cost $15
MUSIC: The Real Ones, The Changes, The Manhattan Love Suicides and Metric Mile make up a pretty packed bill at Union Hall tonight. Check out The Changes doing a slower version of their song, "When I Wake", live on Indie 103.1 in LA.
