Picture a news headline: "NYC CAUGHT WITH PANTS DOWN, RATS GNAWING AT ITS VITALS"! Like terrorists, by the time you find why they are there, the destruction has already taken place, and it is now a TRAGEDY! Remedies are available to NYC. Multi-catch rat traps, etc., however, NYC hasn't budgeted money to buy them. Also, along with the rats, enjoy their fleas and remember The Black or Bubonic Plague carried by their fleas! Help is available. See www.thepiedpipercorp.com

does anyone know whether the department of health inspects grocery stores as well? as far as vermin goes, that's probably worse. people need to eat, just don't necessarily need to eat out.

When is the city going to start taking responsibility for the rat problem.

Seems to me like the DOH is simply passing the buck. Maybe, just maybe, they'll take the money they get from these fines and pay for the extermination of the rats.

This is a CITY problem, not a RESTAURANT problem.

One word: Awesome. If anything people should start realizing that freaking out because rats are icky is dumb. Rats are everywhere, and you still drink your Dunkin' Donuts every morning, and you're FINE. So what if a mouse pooped in Brooklyn? Dominick De Marco makes fucking great pizza.

On the other hand, thinking of papparazzi chasing down restaurant rats at 2am is so much more interesting than catching pictures of overexposed celebrity vaginas. This whole fiasco rocks.

You know what's scary? Hearing rats scurrying around inside a suspended ceiling. Imagine if one falls on your head.

It's NY. Rats are in EVERY restaurant. And in your basement and walls too, with their friends the Roaches. They pay rent too, so leave them alone.

I've worked in tons of restaurants in NY...some of the nicest. Guess what?? THEY ALL HAVE RATS AND ROACHES. The only difference is how well they are controlled--through pest control and hygiene precautions.

So shame on Inside Edition and Fox 5 for their typical sensationalism about NY's ubiquitous rat problem--especially showing the restaurant Fish, which is local, and of excellent quality.

One of my friends had a giant rat run over her foot when she was wearing sandals (in the summer, obv). It was gross to her/hilarious to everyone else at the time.

I know there are rats in NYC, but I prefer to simply see pictures of them. When I see them on the street, I try to block them out of my mind after I shriek.

Rats are everywhere here. Just turn off the lights and wait. Big deal! The City needs to do more to keep them under control. Sanitation hasn't been one of the Bloomberg Administration's strong points. The streets are dirtier than they've been in years. Penny wise and pound foolish as the saying goes.
