We just discovered Greg Martin's wonderful drawings of Soho fire escapes. His site obsessively chronicles just about every one in the area bounded by Broadway, Houston, Canal, and West Broadway. A graduate of Columbia's MFA program, Martin also does a great polar bear. Good work!
Update: Gothamist regular Ed Stern remixed one of the images-- amusing!

It certainly does take dedication to draw all those fire escapes. Or something!
One thing I've noticed about fire escapes is that actually using one to escape from a burning building must be a very unpleasant experience, given their steepness and narrowness. It must be especially difficult if you're panicked, disoriented, or injured, all of which are distinct possibilities.
What graceful drawings.
cool drawings, er i mean tracings.
either way, great job!
