Protesting Four Years of War in Midtown

2007_03_nomorewar.jpg

Tomorrow is the fourth anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, and yesterday's antiwar march brought out thousands to protest on New York City streets. During a rally organized by United for Peace and Justice, the AP reports actor Tim Robbins as saying, "The American people want this war to end. That's the message they sent last November in the election. When are we going to start listening to them?" A Brooklyn Life marched yesterday and writes that a policeman "was using his megaphone to encourage us to keep marching for peace until the end." And check out this set of photographs from the protest by nickcalyx on Flickr - this might be the best sign.

No one was arrested during yesterday's march. But at the big protest in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, hundreds of people were arrested.

If only the Sunnis, Shiites, Palestinians, Iranians, Al-Qaeda, etc. etc. would mobilize for no more war...

...Then they'd just end up killing each other instead.

Oh, wait.

Keep it up, Your efforts are beginning to have an effect !

This may be the best Gothamist headline ever. The misplaced modifier is great. I hope they can come up with a plan for peace in Midtown soon. I know a lot of people who work in the area, and I would hate to see them fall victim to more years of senseless wars in Manhattan's busiest business district.

Read somewhere:

"Hey protester. They want to kill you too."

Those four years of war in Midtown have been tough. You can't go anywhere without fear.

Salon.com is showcasing a new documentary series called Hometown Baghdad on their homepage about life in Baghdad to coincide with the anniversary.

Jen,

People are making fun of you and this headline (and they are right and it's funny).

Please correct the wording of this headline?
