Naomi Campbell Shows Up For Community Service

2007_03_naomidos.jpg

This morning, supermodel and temper-tantrum-prone supermodel Naomi Campbell arrived at the South Street Department of Sanitation facility where she'll be doing such chores as mopping floors. Campbell was sentenced to five days of community service, along with anger management (which she's already started), in a plea agreement after hitting her housekeeper with a bejeweled cellphone.

Albert Durrell, who works at the South Street warehouse, told the Daily News, "Hopefully, she'll know not to come in high heels or anything like that." Hmm, based on the photograph, we hope she's brought some more sensible shoes! She will, however, be given an "orange reflector vest and a pair of work gloves."

And earlier last week, Campbell said she'd auction off the jeans and boots she wearing during her stint for charity.

wtf? stilleto boots while sweeping and mopping? what a dummy, i hope she mixes ammonia and bleach while cleaning and takes a nice deep breath.

As amusing as Ms. Campbell's antics may be, why is no one enraged that mopping floors for a government agency is considered "community service?"

How do these sorts of sentences help the community? I don't consider the exploitation of free labor a boon to our community.

if you look closely, she has a pair of (ultra-chic) combat boots over her shoulder. i wonder if they are manolo blahnik combat boots or something, or if theyre genuine standard issue from the army surplus store...

The way the sentence is served doesn't matter so much to me. I'll save my anger for the sentence. "Community service" in response to an assault that required medical attention...
