Last Night's Action: Saving Face on the Road

2006_11_snetslogo.jpg

  • Nets 113, Grizzlies 102: Staring a winless road trip in the the face, the Nets played well -- for once -- and controlled the game from start to finish. Vince Carter scored 30, but most encouraging was Richard Jefferson and his 18-point performance in 28 minutes. Mikki Moore had 24 and Bostjan Nachbar had 14. Who would have thought at the beginning of the season the Nets would need that kind of performances to win?

For the Nets to advance to the playoffs, they're going to need to put together a run, and they'll have to avoid the losing streaks like the five-game version Monday's win snapped. They are only a half-game out of a playoff berth, and given the sorry state of the Eastern Conference, the playoffs are looking like a be-in-it-to-win-it deal. The Nets are facing down a lost season, but all is not lost yet.
