The Madness Returns

2007_03_finalfour.gifIs it going to be Florida’s year again? Can the likely #1 pick in this year’s NBA draft, Greg Oden, lead Ohio State to a championship? Is Georgetown ready to return to elite status? These questions and many more will be answered over the next three weeks as March Madness begins.

Locally, there isn’t much to root for. Syracuse got left out of the tournament despite a 10-6 record in the Big East and UConn missed not only the big tourney but the NIT as well. (As did Fordham but Hofstra and Marist made that tourney.) Central Connecticut State and SUNY Albany made the tourney, but will be quickly dispatched.

So, you will have to pick someone outside the area to root for. Maybe it’s your alma mater? More likely, it will be the team you picked to win it all in your office pool. Which team are you rooting for and which team do you think will win?

First off, it's not SUNY Albany. It's UAlbany. Get it right. Second, a lot of commentators are saying UAlbany has a real chance against Virginia. It's not a bad match up. Is UAlbany going to 16, likely no but that's not the point. New Yorkers support New York teams. I'll see you fair weather fans when the sun shines.

It's gotta be the Gators again! Led by Joakim Noah of NYC and coached by ex-Knick (and ex-Wall Streeter) Billy Donovan.

    Go Gators!
