Unfortunately, the Department of Health doesn't show their latest inspection results. But you can see that even before they were shut down, their "food contact surface [was] not properly maintained" and their "wiping cloths [were] dirty or not stored in sanitizing solution". Shocking!

I love the coffee shop. They turned that dingy neighborhood into a great neighborhood. I am rooting for them and can't wait for them to open. I can't beleive there are so many haters our there. hhhmmmm....open for 17 years, they must be doing something right.

Yeah, the bottle of olives on the floor is sealed, but how about when you put the bottle on the counter which makes direct contact with the food? Floor germs on food? not yummy

Don't you need like a total of 50 points of offenses to get shut down? So I seriously doubt those minor infractions sited on that poster were the main reasons it was shut down.

Just be honest and say "Look people, Were closed now because the city health inspector found out that we were harboring some big ass Rats in the back . Where sorry and will try to keep our rats on the down low in the future !"

So what's the deal, are restaurants grabbing that same intro paragraph, "Due to extensive media coverage..." blahblah, on their own, or is there some union of restaurant owner's that's attempting to consolidate their messaging on the issue?

Of course the Coffee Shop knows better- after all, they don't have to cover their bulbs to protect food/dishes from breaking glass- no, just because every other food prep establishemnt has to for eaters safety, why should they? And of course, they can leave their canned food on the floor where it can dinged/crushed leading to spoilage/botulism. And of course they wash their cans of food before they open them. Of course.

Excuses excuses. I remember a few years ago, I read a sign in a shut-down Park Slope restaurant that complained about how there just wasn't a customer base for new restaurants any more. I read that sign while standing in a long line for the new Mexican restaurant next door.

The funny thing is how they tried to cover up the signs earlier during the week with brown paper and white signs that said "closed for renovations". Way to lie, buddies!

so what if they have stuck up failed models who work at the coffee shop. Three bucks for a cup of coffee is ridiculous. There are much hotter chicks who work in the boutiques
