What better way to get out of the cold than to party in an art gallery? This Saturday there are two—count ’em, two—Brooklyn galleries sticking their tongues out at the weather and celebrating art with live music and festivities. And the best thing is, you don’t have to chose between them because they’re at different times: first, head to Secret Project Robot for the opening reception of Cameron Michel’s “A New Polymorphous Reality,” then make your way to 3rd Ward for The End of Ice. Read on for details involving grog and light-up costumes.
The festivities begin at 7 PM over at Secret Project Robot (210 Kent Avenue; Brooklyn), where they’ll be celebrating Cameron Michel’s first solo exhibition. To top it off, there is going to be a sound installation at 8 PM by Barry London (Jah Division) and his magic sitar, and there will be visuals by Mighty Robot A/V squad. “We'll be serving chestnuts and grog next to the fireplace on account of the atrocious weather,” says Rachel Nelson.
After you’ve thawed by the fireplace, take the L-train from Bedford over to Morgan Avenue around 10 PM for the “cheap and classic loft party celebrating The End of Ice and the re-awekening of events at 3rd Ward.” While the opening reception at Secret Project Robot is free and more centered on the art, you’ll have to pay if you want to party at 3rd Ward (195 Morgan Avenue): $5 if you come in a costume that lights up; $9 otherwise. To hype up their “newly recreated dark and sultry massive loft," there will be music, ice sculpting, and fire spectacles.

wow nick, that's a completely ignorant statement for a number of reasons, most interesting of which is that the gallery is located inside of a building known as Monster Island. Aside from that, the robot team has been an active part of the neighborhood for years, long before such references reached such epidemic proportions.
