Rangel Not a Fan of Spitzer's Tactics

In a meeting with attendees like Senators Schumer and Clinton, State Senate majority leader Joseph Bruno and Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver, Representative Charles Rangel criticized Governor Eliot Spitzer. He said that Spitzer's aggressive handling of Medicaid and health-care-industry issues is only making the problem worse and isn't helpful - and that the governor's proposed cuts are too deep.

Rangel also asked that both the governor and Local 1199 union that represent hospital workers (Local 1199 boss Dennis Rivera was also in the meeting) stop the war of the ads. See one from the union here, see one from the governor here - it's a pretty dirty fight. Rangel said, "We cannot deliver the resources in the middle of a food fight. We just can't do it."

The NY Times reports "in an interview afterward, Mr. Rangel suggested that the governor had an anger problem." Ha! Rangel is chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, which oversees Medicaid.

I've never really been a fan of "Mr. Charley" Rangel personally . He has had his good points, As well as some bad . Generally, He's good for New York as a whole . Spitzer just got into office and "Mr. Charley's" criticizing him already ! Give Spitzer some time to do his thing and "Try" to "Clean-up" Albany before you go pointing fingers at the guy ! He seems to have New York in his best interest here . I say give him a year before trashing his missteps .

I just wish that Washington Heights had not been gerrymandered into one congressional district with Harlem. All of "King" Rangel's effort and enthusiasm is devoted to Harlem. I just don't see how he represents anyone north of 145th street and certainly no one in the newly gentrified Hudson Heights.

And also, Rangle is saying That Spitzer has anger issues? This coming from a guy who shoots his mouth off any time he's in front a reporter?

Great So Spitzer's an angry man with a big stick lashing out at the world he refuses to conform to ! Thanks for sharing .
