  • Now that the NYPD has made our streets safe from cyclists, looks like they're coming after the litterbugs. Aren't there any murderers left out there?
  • Hoity-toity PS 234 in Tribeca is trying to prevent kids from outside the neighborhood from enrolling by requiring up to four pieces of address ID-- only one prob: it might be illegal.
  • Your tax dollars at work: it took the city 8 years to complete a report with the earth shattering conclusion that truck traffic on city streets needs to be better regulated.
  • Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: jumper down on Lexington, bank robbery in Brooklyn Heights, and multiple pedestrians struck by auto in Queens.
  • What's the second tallest building in New York? Trick question!
  • Are the police getting too rough? A family who used a Budget rental truck was manhandled by police who had their guns out - and the family's 9-year-old had to hear the cops drop the f-bomb!
  • Instead of building bigger trashcans, shouldn't the city be encouraging people to create less trash? Discuss amongst yourselves.
  • Is Greenwich between Rector and Carlisle Streets the scummiest block in Lower Manhattan?

So cynical! Get some rest this weekend...

"Instead of building bigger trashcans, shouldn't the city be encouraging people to create less trash? Discuss amongst yourselves."

(raising hand nervously) May I go poop first before the group discussion?

"A family who used a Budget rental truck was manhandled by police who had their guns out"

Bloomy has stock with U-Haul. YOU figure it out.

"What's the second tallest building in New York? Trick question!"

That one right over there! (Trick answer)

"Hoity-toity PS 234 in Tribeca is trying to prevent kids from outside the neighborhood from enrolling by requiring up to four pieces of address ID-- only one prob: it might be illegal."

So is torturing, kidnapping, invading, bombing and murdering. And I don't see anyone complain much about THAT.

Go for it PS 234! Get fucking DNA samples too.

"Is Greenwich between Rector and Carlisle Streets the scummiest block in Lower Manhattan?"

Only when GW Bush is standing on it.

"Now that the NYPD has made our streets safe from cyclists, looks like they're coming after the litterbugs."

Yeah and u better be careful. After THAT they're focusing on bringing down bad spellers.

Lol, I guess harassing, and beating minorities is getting a little boring . So the NYPD is going to tackle the litterbugs now ! What a bunch of hypocrites, I remember my Father telling me one day when I was a kid that he never understood how anyone could be a police officer . He said " A Police officer was someone that was to be held to a higher regard . That wearing that uniform was an honor and that they should be respected to the fullest ." He continued, "But how can you respect a person wearing that uniform that has little to no respect for the uniform ?" As a grown man I have a full understanding of just what he meant by that .

SM: good call. Just looked at the backend, and they were all posted by the same IP.

Trash violations? The cops should come to Williamsburg and ticket all the assholes who let their dogs shit everywhere...but they won't. Oh well. Welcome to the police state, enjoy. This is what happens when you give too much power to the police so they can protect the developers and destroy the middle class. This is what happens when you lower the salary of officers to 20,000 a year so they have to fill quotas in order to get advancement. I miss the old New York, hate the new mall New York.

while you shouldn't get arrested for it.. littering is still a pretty rude and inconsiderate thing to do.

and yeah, first 5 posts.. wtf? half of those jokes just dont even make sense.

Is that a picture of 1 Liberty Plaza taken from the south?
