An employee at Rego Park strip club Goldfingers will face either manslaughter or murder charges after a February 25 incident in which the employees made a now fatal attack on a patron. The patron, Bresnik Prebeza, had been brain-dead on life support, but died on Tuesday after his family had the life support ended.
The incident: Prebeza had lit a cigarette in the club, but was told he couldn't smoke inside. The Daily News says Prebeza stubbed out his cigarette, but then lit another, prompting a shoving match. Prebeza's brother jumped on a bouncer, and then Cesar Paz, who is described as a bouncer in the Post but as a barman in the Daily News, smashed Prebeza's head with a pool cue from behind.
Prebeza's family's lawyer said, "Regardless of what may have occurred inside, the kid did not have a weapon. The excessive amount of force used, especially since he was trying to flee and was already outside the club, was horrific." The family plans on suing Goldfingers for hiring Paz, who has a criminal history.
And in 2003, two patrons killed a bouncer at East Village club Guernica after the bouncer told them they couldn't smoke.

See, this is exactly why the smoking ban is still a bad idea.
Uhg please lose the obnoxious Showtime ad.
The smoking ban is ridiculous. And it was the start of a very slippery slope. Every time you turn around, NYC is trying to ban something else.
The smoking ban was one of the best things this city ever did. This has NOTHING to do with the blood smoking ban? There is seriously something wrong with your logic.

(If this posts twice, I am sorry.)
If it wasn't the Lighting up, they'd just have another excuse.
tell that to Prebeza.
I am certain all parties involved were, indeed, pillars of the community.
Shining examples, even.
Just because you arent always on your best behavior doesnt justify being slammed in the back of the head by a pool cue, lying in a coma, and dying too young.
Or I guess only perfect people with constantly upstanding behavior deserve to live.
ahhhh, the old lead weighted Pool Cue.
The weapon of choice for low lives, thugs and white trash bikers.
The papers fail to mention what had exactly happened inside the club. The bouncer and Paz were both hit with bottles of liquor that Presnik and his pals had obtained by hopping over the bar and taking as weapons. They were also throwing bar stools. This was all caught on camera. They were beligerant and ultimately started a huge bar brawl. God rest his soul, death was noone's intention.
The sad truth is that most--if not all--of these clubs are no more than sleezy dives that attract lowlifes. "Enter at your own risk" should be posted over the door.
noone deserved to die, but the papers definately painted a story.
sad story. although it should be known that this is the same Prebeza that fatally assaulted an inoccent teenager 6 years ago with a baseball bat in forest hills, queens.
