Jet Blue has this problem because they don't have transfer arrangements with other airlines to take stranded passengers. If there are no other available Jet Blue flights, you're out of luck.

That's bs. President's Day and the weekend after sees so many full planes that it's impossible to reaccommodate anybody except "elite" flyers. On whom could JetBlue push 100 stranded passengers?? Interline agreements won't help in most cases. Anyway, even if JB arranged interline agreements, they don't have elite passenger designations, so it's not clear who they would "choose" to accommodate.

There was a snowstorm and other airlines cancelled a commensurate number of flights. Happens all the time.

i like flight stats and use it -- but take it w/a grain of salt -- they've got flights as scheduled and on time with the groovy green icon that were long xlld by the carrier -- see AC356 today.... the only status you can get is from some employee at the airport who's willing and has the cajones to be honest

I will still continue to fly JetBlue...at least they have some type of policy in effect to deal with weather related cancellations and delays...most other airlines tell you too bad if it is weather related. It took me over 13 hours to get from Paris to Philly on US Air, we had to stop in Blatimore b/c we ran out of gas, and all they keep saying was thank you for your understanding in this "weather delay" so that we all knew we had no recourse. When we landed we waited in three hour accomedation lines, most missed our connecting flights (mine to nyc) and where on our own to find accomadations until the next morning. As a first class passenger I was given a $25 food voucher. Great!!
I've had many similar problems on Continental as well. If Jet Blue flies there, I will definitely be on thier airlines, at least I know what to expect...

The next storm, I'm going on FlightStats and see what's the real deal. I don't like the words being thrown around giving Jetblue excuses.
Why aren't other airlines having this problem? Where's the outrage, cause you know a NY'er would be the first to pitch a bitch.
I don't follow what tim posted. Did they get to their final destination or were their flights cancelled? That'the question, were they in the air instead of the tarmac or terminal.

Actually I flew on US Air yesterday (from RDU to LGA, which are both Jetblue airports) and EVERY airline was having the same troubles. Many flights were cancled up and down the east coast. I think the reason you hear so much more about Jetblue is that their hub is here. For example US Air has major operations through Philly and DC (many flights from North Carolina have stop overs in one of those two cities before hitting NYC) and everything in and out of Philly and DC on US Air was canceled according to my gate agent. So you might not hear about those flights because those people are all still in North Carolina and officially it was their flight to Philly or DC that cancled, even if their final destination was New York.

I wonder if the other airlines are as up front with issues as Jet Blue? Me, I've flown with them before and will continue to do so as the service was a lot better than what I got from American or United.
