Last Night's Action: Break Up The Rangers!

  • Columbus 3 Rangers 2: This is a team that is in crisis. Facing a lousy opponent, the Rangers built a 2-0 lead six minutes in and absolutely blew it the rest of the way. They gave up a goal late in the first period and then gave up two short-handed goals in the second period to lose the lead and the game.

Clearly, things are not working on Broadway and it is time to realize that last year was an aberration. They have 48 hours or so until the trade deadline, let’s hope they decide to sell rather than buy.

  • Islanders 3 Montreal 2: Things look much better in Nassau County. New York got a huge win and drew even with the Canadians for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
  • Washington 4 Devils 2: The best team in the tri-state area took the afternoon off. Facing an inferior team, New Jersey played down to the competition and delivered a lifeless effort in the loss. While they have built a big lead in the division, New Jersey cannot get complacent the way Pittsburgh is playing.
  • Pavano hurt in batting practice: Does this surprise anyone?
